Please excuse the packaging appearance!

In an effort to operate as sustainably as possible, chutbi packaging materials are either reused/donated, recyclable, or otherwise sustainable. Please consider reusing these materials as well, or responsibly discarding them through appropriate methods.

If you have suggestions or recommendations on how to make chutbi ceramics even more sustainably conscious, please let me know!

For those who are local to NYC, I offer a code PICKUP to waive shipping fees and allow for in-person pick-up (lower carbon footprint!).

Seconds & sample sales

On occasion, I will have pieces that do not come out exactly as I had hoped — whether they have minor surface cracks, blemishes, or have warped slightly. Rather than discarding these “seconds,” I save them up to do an Instagram stories sale in which they are discounted (sometimes drastically!). Similarly, I will save up prototypes or samples of items that I experimented in making but may not have made it to my shop page. These samples will also go into an Instagram stories sale.

Please be sure to follow me on Instagram to snag any seconds or samples!

Clay process & recycling

The craft of ceramics is, unfortunately, not the most environmentally friendly craft. We utilize much of the earth’s resources to make ceramics — from natural minerals to water to firing power. Within my control, I continue to practice minimizing the amount of water used when I throw. More importantly, I do not discard clay unless contaminated. I carry out a process called reclaiming or reconditioning clay, which is essentially recycling scraps of unfired clay to be useable again.
